Free AI Act website check — before the 2 December deadline

Does your website use AI? It has to say so by 2 December.

The EU AI transparency rules have been in force since 2 August 2026, and AI-made content already online must be marked by 2 December. We check your website free of charge and tell you, in plain English, what needs fixing — and what doesn't.

Since 2 August 2026, if your website talks to customers using AI, someone in the chain has to tell them it's AI. Any AI-written text or AI-made image already sitting on your site has to be properly marked by 2 December 2026. Most small Irish businesses have no idea which parts of that are theirs.

We check your website for free and tell you, in plain English, what applies to you and what to do about it. If nothing needs doing, we say so and you keep the all-clear note.

What changed, in one minute

  • If a visitor can chat with AI on your site (a chatbot, an assistant bubble, an AI receptionist), they must be told it's AI and not a person.
  • AI-written pages, AI-generated images and AI product descriptions already published have to carry a machine-readable marker by 2 December 2026.
  • The staff-training duty has been in force since February 2025 and applies to any business using AI at work: you are expected to have made sure the people using it understand it. A short written policy and a record of a briefing covers it.
  • The penalties are real. Transparency breaches sit in the tier that reaches €15 million or 3% of worldwide turnover, capped lower for small companies. In practice the first thing that happens is a complaint or a demand to fix it, which is cheaper to fix now than after.

What we check, free of charge

  • AI on your site: chat widgets, assistants, AI search, AI-generated forms and replies, and whether each one discloses that it's AI.
  • AI-made content: text, images and product copy that look machine-generated, and whether they carry any marking.
  • Your paperwork: whether your privacy page, terms or an AI page says anything about AI use at all. Usually it doesn't.
  • Your staff duty: whether you have an AI use policy and any record of a briefing. This part applies even if your website has no AI on it.
  • The high-risk question: if you use AI to sort CVs, assess credit, triage patients or mark exams, you are in a stricter category with a longer deadline (December 2027) and much more paperwork. We tell you honestly whether you're in it.
  • Your suppliers: if the AI comes from your web host, your marketing platform or your booking system, we say who is responsible for what, so you don't do someone else's job.

What you get back

One page, written for a person rather than a lawyer: what we found, what it means, and the two or three things worth doing first, ranked. Where wording is needed (a chatbot notice, an AI line for your privacy page, a one-page staff policy) we write it out for you to paste, free, whether you hire us or not.

If your site is in good shape, the report says so. We don't invent problems to sell a fix. The check costs us an hour and our name is on it.

If something needs fixing: fixed prices, no quote needed

What Price What you get
AI Act Fix €390 We make the change on your site: disclosure on every AI touchpoint, machine-readable marking of AI-made content, an AI section on your privacy page, and a one-page staff AI policy with a briefing note. You get a signed one-page evidence file to keep on record.
AI Act Readiness Pack €1,500 Everything above, plus a review of every AI tool your business actually uses (including the ones in your accounts package, your booking system and your email), a written register of them, staff briefing delivered to your team, and a 12-month calendar of what is due when. For businesses with AI in more than one place.

Both are fixed. We scope the work before it starts, we tell you what is included, and we don't come back for more.

If you're not sure, use the free check below. It tells you which one applies before you spend anything, and it costs you nothing either way.

What this is not

We are not solicitors and this is not legal advice. We do the technical work (the labels, the wording, the marking, the records, the evidence file) and we tell you plainly when a question is one for your solicitor. If you are in the high-risk category we say so in writing, first, before you spend anything.

Who we are

Rennwick is a small Irish firm. We install and fix the technical things that businesses get asked about by inspectors, insurers and customers, and we write it down in plain English. The person who checks your site is the person who fixes it.
